The light of Morocco was a revelation to Ralph. He travelled there in 1963 and was inspired by the bustling activity and vibrant colours of the souk in Marrakesh with its robed figures, couscous baskets, ceramic pots and crafts men’s stalls. As a result of these new impressions, he produced a series of paintings capturing the North African atmosphere.
